Work FROM Your Goals – Not TOWARDS Them

Work FROM Your Goals – Not TOWARDS Them

Two boys, Theo and Miles, both eighteen, were best friends—and both wanted a car.

Their families were well-off, so they agreed to ask their fathers in one month.

But first, they decided to prepare.

Theo worked TOWARDS the goal.

He made plans, set deadlines, and practiced persuasion.

He studied sales tricks and even learned how to make his father feel guilty.

“I just need the perfect pitch,” he said.

Miles worked FROM the goal.

He imagined he already had a car—and lived like it.

He applied for a job in a nearby town, got hired, and quickly stood out.

After a few weeks, he told his dad,

“Work’s going great, but getting there by bus takes hours.

If I had a car, I could take more shifts and grow faster.”

When the month ended, both boys spoke to their fathers.

Theo gave a long pitch.

Miles spoke a simple truth.

Miles got the car.

Moral:

Don’t try to prove you deserve it. Live like you already do.
